If you've ever spent time with the Dorers, whether at an opening, a fair booth, or just socially, you know they're an inseparable team. Half of that team is Jan's husband Gil Dorer. Here you'll find updates about current events and Gil's musings about things that have happened over the years to bring the Dorers to where they are today. We only edit for spelling, so this is pure, unfiltered Gil. Enjoy...

October 2006

Just got back from Thompson’s pizza. It’s Monday night and we meet friends over pizza and wine. We solve many of the world’s problems during these meetings. Last Friday night I talked Jan into joining me and another couple to go to the Chelsea Bulldogs football game. She finally consented. Now Chelsea has the best high school coach I have ever seen. Chelsea football is something else. McClendon took the hand off on the first Chelsea offensive play and ran for a touchdown. It was his third touchdown in the game. First was the kickoff. Second was something I can’t remember. Third was this first offensive play for Chelsea. We left at the end of the first quarter. The score was 35 to 0. Jan watched the cheerleaders with a probable second grader being the mascot. She was so cute I even watched her a bit. The final score was Chelsea 48 Lincoln 0. Chelsea Bulldogs were kind. They have a powerful team as usual.

All’s well with the Dorer family. Jan is painting like a dream. We have the Flora and Fauna Show at the Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor next weekend. Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 1. Jan has painted two beautiful 44×44 florals to show at the next Flora show. She also has other such paintings of various sizes. I think some are as good as she has ever done. We’ll see if anyone agrees. The next Sunday we’ll be at the Holiday Inn Hudson Ohio. We’ll show, as requested, from 1:00 to 5:00 (see the calendar for details on either show). After, we’ll eat at their restaurant with all that wish to join us. These dinners are so much fun. We’ll only take in the paintings we think are best for Gil is getting tired of taking in too many paintings. He’s getting ornery over such things.

The next weekend we’ll be at Ormonk, New York. It’s about an hour and a half from the big city. Chris, our dear friend and helper at Boston Mills, will be there with her new boyfriend whom we have never met. Also Lynn and Mike who we got together and later married will be there to help us. Seems like things are coming together. We should have a great time. We so wished to go to Maine and have some decent lobster but find it’s a ways away. Misko and John will have to do without us unless we hit it really big and have money to go wherever we wish for as long as we wish.

I do wish you all the joy that life can bring. The doorbell just rang and my buddy Andy was there with a check for his parents to come to the Purple Rose with us Thursday. Andy is their son and a wonderful kid. He is now seventh grade going on eleventh if you know what I mean. He has moxie.

Please be kind to all and walk with integrity.

Love, Gil with some approval from Jan.
