If you've ever spent time with the Dorers, whether at an opening, a fair booth, or just socially, you know they're an inseparable team. Half of that team is Jan's husband Gil Dorer. Here you'll find updates about current events and Gil's musings about things that have happened over the years to bring the Dorers to where they are today. We only edit for spelling, so this is pure, unfiltered Gil. Enjoy...

Dear Friends from all over, May day, 2010

Has been a tough month. Toughest month in 55 years. Was back from Korea early. Thirteen months there and back to school at CMU errr Central Michigan University. I’m an emotional type. Back and couldn’t smile or laugh without effort. I have trouble with man’s inhumanity to man.

Met Jan in conservation class. She tried to talk to me and I grunted. Her reception to my grunts was the beginning of a wonderful 54 years. Now I try to find purpose and meaning and even maybe some joy. Job was well done.

Still love jokes if they aren’t cruel.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY WHEN…

Your horn sticks on the freeway behind 32 Hell’s Angels motorcyclists.

Your twin sister forgets your birthday.

You call suicide prevention hotline and they put you on hold.

Your blind date turns out to be your ex wife/husband.

Your mother approves of the person you are dating.

You invite the peeping Tom in and he says “NO”.

Going to Sedona, Az. to stay with my brother for five days. He’s single and knows about 40,000 single old women. Shouldn’t call them old. I’m even going mountain climbing with his group. Don’t have any plans for moving there, yet. Joke.

Bought a new camera. I’m going to learn how to use it. Need a teen age kid to teach me. Maybe Kiaura. She is the daughter of a dear friend. Had tickets to the Purple Rose Theater. Jan couldn’t go. Kiaura was to go with me. The day of the play I get dumped by a ninth grader. Excuse was that she had too much homework. Mother said she doesn’t want to break her all A record. “Perfection is something we greatly admire but do not wish to pursue.” Read it in an upper peninsula Michigan newspaper and have chuckled since. Hope I have entertained you some. I’ll tell you about available paintings and art materials when I’m ready.

Please be serious about bestowing kindness on others.

Love Gil

Would love some unexpected contact from you.
